Water Connect is a one day, annual conference that offers exclusive insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Anglian Water ahead of its next five year business cycle in April 2020.
We’re calling for all start-ups, innovators, organisations and services across every sector to join us to understand how we can work together to deliver the most value over the next five years and beyond. We recognise and celebrate the value of transferable solutions and different ways of thinking as we tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our industry, region and society.

Calling all cleantech innovators: pitch your company to an audience of investors at Cleantech Venture Day 2020, being organised by Cambridge Cleantech, Oxfordshire Greentech and Avanto Ventures and kindly sponsored by Clean Growth UK, KPMG, JA Kemp and Hewitsons. Cleantech Venture Day has been a trailblazing event for the cleantech community since it started in 2006. Over the last decade, more than 220 companies have pitched at Cleantech Venture Days and as much as 600 million euros has been invested as a result of the events.

Inside Innovation – Insights On Anglian Water’s Design Thinking Process For Innovation

Anglian Water runs a lively innovation programme. It puts out proactive call-outs to the market on specific challenges. And, being open to innovation, it provides a platform where innovators can approach the company with potential solutions.
This means that the utility has a challenge-led innovation strand, where it asks for solutions to challenges. And it has an opportunity-led strand, where the company is open to innovative ideas, and to approaches from individuals and technology companies.
This webinar will share insights on Anglian Water’s innovation journey. It will show how it moves an idea through to an exploited solution, using fundamentals from the design thinking process – ‘engage, discover, apply’.
The Water Innovation Network (WIN) is used by Anglian Water to engage with potential suppliers. It ensures that the utility has visibility of innovative technology and that suppliers have a clear entry point into the water company.
Anglian Water will illustrate how WIN evaluates potential solutions and then, if appropriate, moves them through the ‘discover’ and ‘apply’ stages of the innovation process.
This session will also share selected highlights from the utility’s innovation experiences, explaining how different solutions have been moved through the innovation phase.
Case studies will include a supplier who is trialling various sensors on a water and a water recycling application. And a trial with an Australian company, which is proving the use of machine learning to detect the wastewater pipeline condition.
The presentation will be followed by a live audience Q&A.
Fresh Thinkers This Way: Launch of the UK Water Sector Innovation Strategy

Since January we’ve been on a journey as an alliance of 19 UK water companies with one mission: to create a strategy to deliver transformational change in the water sector over the next 30 years.
Alongside thousands of colleagues from other sectors who bring much needed insight and perspective, we’ve cocreated a final strategy which will inform the way we innovate as a sector going forward.
Now we’re ready to show you the result of all of our efforts.

Water Connect 2021 – Future Focused
Join the Water Innovation Network (WIN) team for a series of digital events as the water industry gears up for year two of AMP7 following a challenging and demanding 12 months.
WIN’s annual conference, Water Connect, provides exclusive insight into the current operating environment at Anglian Water and how suppliers can align with our ambitions in the short, medium and long term.
This year’s event will take place digitally over four days to enable guests to attend talks and workshops that are most relevant to them.
Start-ups, innovators, organisations and services across every sector, this is your call to join us to understand how we can work together to deliver against a specific set of key priorities that will be core to our focus over the coming months and years. We recognise and celebrate the value of transferable solutions and different ways of thinking as we tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our industry, region and society which have only been exacerbated over recent months.
Our focus has been established to align with the UK’s water innovation strategy and the specific needs of our region which will be realised through our Shop Window. Many suppliers will be familiar with Anglian Water’s Shop Window and its existence as a physical geography where ideas and concepts are tested to assess their viability before roll out. If we choose to take supplier ideas forward, their first port of call will be the Shop Window. The priorities below are mapped against the sector wide strategy to provide a comprehensive view of our focus areas.

As usual, there will be an opportunity to have up to six 20 minute one-to-one sessions with any delegate, including Anglian Water specialists. These can be organised once registered for the event.

Water Innovation Network/Anglian Water Ofwat competition update
We’ll be sharing how we’re supporting suppliers and partners with bids for the second round of Ofwat and Nesta, Isle and Arup’s IWC. We want to be able to offer as much support as possible to our stakeholders who have ideas for potential projects – this session will take a closer look at our winning bid from round one (whole life carbon).
There will be an opportunity to ask questions during and after the session.

Ofwat Innovation Fund: Explorer Series – Think beyond the bid
While winning the bid is an exciting part, what happens afterwards is where it really gets interesting! Our final session in the series will focus on what happens once the projects’ wheels are in motion. We’ll showcase two of our successful bids and talk around mobilisation and delivery.
